Eagles Injury Report: Mychal Kendricks, Darren Sproles still limited in practice

Eagles injury update for Thursday, October 23rd, 2014.

Jeffrey G. Pittenger-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have released their second official injury report in preparation of their Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Thursday's injury report looks nearly identical to Wednesday's injury report. Brad Smith, who has already been ruled out of Sunday's game, was the only Eagles player not to practice.

Key players such as running back Darren Sproles (knee) and starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks (calf) were limited yet again. It's still unclear if they will play on Sunday. The fact that both players are practicing is a positive sign, but the fact that they're not practicing in full raises doubt regarding their status. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane had the following to say regarding the status of Kendricks.

Tim McManus of Birds 24/7 also weighed in.

"He won't play this week," said one of the [Eagles] defensive players. Others weren't as sure.

One teammate we talked to expects Sproles to be a game-time decision.

McLane noted that Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will return punts if Sproles can't play.

Starting center Jason Kelce (hernia) was also limited again in practice. Kelce is targeting a return either in Week 9 or Week 10. Starting left guard Evan Mathis (knee) was limited and won't be eligible to return to the active roster until Week 10. Mathis expects to be fully ready to play by then.

Backup Eagles running back and kick returner Chris Polk (hamstring) was a full participant for the second straight day. Polk will serve as the backup to star running back LeSean McCoy if Sproles can't play. Polk will likely receive a few touches on offense if that's the case. Tight end Trey Burton will serve as an emergency running back.

Rookie cornerback Jaylen Watkins was added to Thursday's injury report with a wrist injury. He was listed as a full participant, however.
