The Philadelphia Eagles have released their first official injury report in preparation of their Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The only player missing entirely from practice was veteran wide receiver and special teams contributor Brad Smith (groin). Smith had surgery on a central core muscle in Week 6 and is expected to miss at least a few weeks. Smith has already been ruled out for this week's game.
Philadelphia received a slew of good news on Tuesday when a number of key players returned to practice. Among those players were running back Darren Sproles, starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks, starting center Jason Kelce, and depth running back Chris Polk. All of those players practiced to some extent again on Wednesday.
Kendricks was a limited participant in practice. Kendricks took repetitions with the first team defense next to fellow starter DeMeco Ryans.
Sproles was limited in practice. It was originally reported that Sproles would miss at least a game or two, so it's not certainty he will play but it seems like there's a chance. Here's what Tim McManus of Birds 24/7 had to say about what he saw from Sproles on Wednesday:
Sproles was moving pretty well. He did some running and cutting at about half-speed and ran routes. Other than a little flexing of his left leg in-between plays, he seemed OK.
Mathis wasn't allowed to practice Tuesday so he returned on Wednesday. He was limited in practice. The All-Pro left guard isn't eligible to return to the active roster until Week 10. Matt Tobin will start at left guard with Mathis out.
Kelce was limited in practice. The fourth-year center likely won't make his return until either Week 9 or Week 10. David Molk will start in Kelce's absence.
Depth running back and kick returner Chris Polk appears to have recovered from his nagging hamstring injury. Polk was a full participant in practice. After practice, Polk told reporters he feels good about his playing chances for Sunday. Polk likely serve as LeSean McCoy's main backup if Sproles can't play.
