Shutout Perspective - Iggles Blitz
The previous shutout came back in 1996. I started thinking about just how long ago that was.

All-22: New Wrinkle Sparks Eagles Run Game - Birds 24/7
Chip Kelly would not be offended by Johnson's comments. The Eagles' offense is based on running a series of foundation plays effectively, dressing them up differently and moving at a fast pace. The problem at times this season has been that defenses have game-planned well against those foundation plays. Because of injuries up front and inconsistent quarterback play, the offense has not run as smoothly. But against the Giants, a team that limited McCoy to 94 yards on 35 carries in two meetings last year with an inside stunt, Kelly broke out some wrinkles that helped jump-start the run game and the offense as a whole.

Inside and Out-How Chip Out-Coached and Out-Schemed the Giants- Part 1 - ChipWagon
One of the great things about the Chip Kelly offense is the simplicity of it all. As we've repeated in this blog many times, Chip isn't really inventing anything new. He's taking a lot of old football concepts that have been used for years and packaging them together and dressing them up in different ways. A great example is of the Eagles bread and butter play, the inside zone. The Eagles run this play as well as any team in football right now, but sometimes the simplicity can make things predictable. One of the much talked about things about Chip Kelly's inside zone run game is that based on the formation, you are really telling the defense what you are going to do. This doesn't automatically make it easier to stop, good execution trumps all, but teams can get a bit more creative and try to focus on stopping the foundation of the Eagles offense. Perhaps no team in the NFL defended the Eagles run game last year better than the New York Giants, and they did so by attacking the Eagles inside zone scheme.

Barwin leads Eagles' surge in sacks - Inquirer
Connor Barwin's increased sack production this season can be tracked back to March, when the team bolstered its secondary in free agency but failed to add a pass rusher. The Eagles thought they could improve their pass rush with players returning for their second season in Bill Davis' scheme. One idea was to use Barwin more in that role this season.

Chris Cooley says DeSean Jackson doesn’t try to block anybody - Washington Post
"They throw a bubble screen outside to Andre Roberts," Cooley said. "[Jackson] doesn’t put his hands on the player, and Roberts takes a no-gain. In the run game, on his side, he will never block anybody. He just won’t. He’s just not going to block anybody. And when Alfred [Morris] breaks something to the second level and the corner’s seven yards off, that’s a seven-yard gain, a six-yard gain, and that looks like nothing. If you have a receiver who’s locked down on the corner, that might be a 20-yard gain. C’mon."

Boykin Challenges Students To #DoThe22 - PE.com
Boykin met with about 25 students at Prince Hall Elementary School on Wednesday morning to announce the collaboration between EYP and READ! By 4th, as well as talk to the second-grade students about the importance of reading, and reading a lot. The Georgia native explained to the students gathered that, when he was their age, he was a quiet kid because he lacked confidence. When he got really good at reading, that all changed.

Chris Christie hates on the Eagles' fight song - Philly.com
Christie scowled, draped his right arm around her shoulder and deadpanned, "I’d rather have my teeth drilled than listen to that awful song, ‘Fly, Eagles Fly.’

Key to battered Eagles' 5-1 start? Solid subs - CSN Philly
Mychal Kendricks is one of the Eagles' best defensive players. Jason Kelce and Evan Mathis are two of the Eagles' best offensive players. The Eagles got to 5-1 by the bye week with Mathis missing five games, Kendricks four games and Kelce three.

Pastor, former NFL receiver Irving Fryar faces trial for bank fraud | The MMQB with Peter King
It was an uplifting tale: A troubled player hits bottom, finds God and turns his life around, preaching the Gospel and dedicating himself to helping others. Now, however, the former 17-year NFL receiver is facing charges of bank fraud, and the possibility that he’ll end up back where his turnaround began—in jail

Uffsides: NFL Week 7 previews and picks - SB Nation
Uffsides is the only NFL show that sides with the players who shoplift underwear and cologne (those items are egregiously overpriced).
