Eagles vs. Giants Final Score: Philadelphia shuts up and shuts out New York, 27-0

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night, 27-0. The Eagles moved to 5-1 on the 2014 NFL Season. Read on for a drive-by-drive recap of the game. Up next for Philadelphia is their bye week.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Huge game.

Eagles win the opening coin toss and elect to receive first. Opening kickoff is a touchback.

Eagles 1st drive: Field goal (3-0, Eagles)

LeSean McCoy is running wild on the Giants defense early. The Eagles are immediately driving into scoring territory. Philadelphia then stalls and has to kick a field goal. The run game is showing signs of life but the red zone offense is still struggling. Cody Parkey drills it from 31 yards out, Eagles get on the board first.

Giants 1st drive: Punt

Eli Manning hits Victor Cruz for a first down on the Giants' offensive first play. Manning is sacked on the next set of downs by outside linebacker Connor Barwin. Barwin forces the fumble but the Giants offensive line recovers the ball. G-men punt. That's Barwin's fourth sack in the last three games.

Eagles 2nd drive: Touchdown (10-0, Eagles)

McCoy runs for a big gain up the middle and gets tackled from behind. McCoy hits the ground after contact and the ball comes out. The referees rule McCoy was down. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin challenges the play but the call stands and the Eagles keep the ball. Foles to Zach Ertz goes for a big gain on 3rd-and-8. Foles finds Ertz again in scoring territory for a touchdown. Great anticipation throw from Foles and a spectacular catch by Ertz. Former Eagles player Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was in "coverage" on the play.

Giants 2nd drive: (Continued below)

Manning is sacked by Trent Cole. The Philadelphia crowd is loud enough to force New York to take a timeout but the G-men go on to convert 3rd-and-19 anyway. DeMeco Ryans (playing through a groin injury) is beaten in coverage. Manning goes down again, this time at the hands of Vinny Curry.

Giants 2nd drive: Punt

Now it's Barwin getting his second sack of the night. That brings Philadelphia's sack total up to four. Giants have to punt after a Barwin run stop on third down.

Eagles 3rd drive: Punt

Eagles pick up a first down before having to punt. Foles throws a scary pass that ends up being tipped by a Giants linebacker but falls incomplete.

Giants 3rd drive: Punt

Three and out. Nose tackle Bennie Logan stuffs Eli Manning on a scramble attempt to force fourth down.

Eagles 4th drive: Touchdown (17-0, Eagles)

LeSean McCoy with a big run for a first down. Great block by Jeremy Maclin on the play to give McCoy space in the open field. Foles loft a pass to a wide open James Casey (!) in the end zone for a touchdown. That's his first career Philadelphia touchdown. Eagles offense looks alive.

Giants 4th drive: Punt

Giants guard Weston Richburg dives on Fletcher Cox after a Giants incompletion. Penalty on New York. Dirty play, watch the full video here. G-men go three and out anyway.

Eagles 5th drive: Field goal (20-0, Eagles)

A 43-yard punt return from Darren Sproles on a 49-yard Steve Weatherford punt puts the Eagles at Giants' 43 yard line. Good field position. Sproles was actually incidentally tackled by fellow teammate Malcolm Jenkins on the play. Oops.

Riley Cooper leaves the game holding his arm. Rookie wide receiver Josh Huff is in for Cooper. Cooper returns shortly after.

Darren Sproles is nearly face-masked by Antre Rolle along the sideline but the officials pick up the flag. Weird call. Foles sails a pass intended for Ertz. Eagles have to settle for a field goal. Parkey's attempt from 45 yards out is good.

Giants 5th drive: Punt

Three and out.

Eagles 6th drive: Interception

Giants punt is tipped by Chris Maragos and only goes for 34 yards. Great throw from Foles. Next play, TERRIBLE throw from Foles is picked off by the Giants. Wow. Just not a good decision there at all. Could have been a pick-six if not for Sproles making a tackle right away.

Giants 6th drive: Punt

Manning goes down. Curry picks up his second sack of the night. It's Curry's first career multi-sack game. That's Philadelphia's fifth sack of the night.

Eagles 7th drive: Punt

Quick three and out.

Giants 7th drive: Clock expires

Manning runs for a few yards and time runs out on the first half.

Giants get the ball to start the second half.

Giants 8th drive: Punt

Nothing going for New York. Barwin hurries Manning into a bad throw and forces a punt.

Eagles 8th drive: Interception

Foles throws an interception. The Eagles quarterback had some open options but threw way too late and the Giants defender broke on the ball. Terrible decision and throw there from Foles. At the least, he could have opted to throw it away.

Giants 9th drive: Turnover on downs

G-men take over in good field position. Giants tight end Larry Donnell scores a touchdown but it's wiped out due to a holding penalty. Giants go for it on fourth down from the 3-yard line. The pass goes for an open Victor Cruz but the Giants wide receiver drops it. Cruz goes down to the ground holding his knee on the play. Doesn't look good. Eagles fans clap in support for Cruz as he's carted off. Sportsmanship.

Eagles 9th drive: Touchdown (27-0, Eagles)

Big pass to Jordan Matthews and a big run by McCoy help jump start this drive. Sproles outside run goes for 15 yards and a touchdown. Huge drive for Philadelphia there. 8 plays, 97 yards, 4 minutes and 9 seconds.

McCoy goes over the 100 yard mark for the first team this season. McCoy also moves into third place on the Eagles' all-time rushing list. McCoy passed Steve Van Buren.

Giants 10th drive: Punt

Giants get to 4th and 1 but decide to punt. Probably not the best decision for New York.

Eagles 10th drive: Touchdown (27-0, Eagles)

Eagles try a trick play with Sproles tossing to Josh Huff, but the Sproles toss is sloppy and it's fumbled. Eagles recover. Darren Sproles gets banged up on the next play. Eagles have to punt.

Giants 11th drive: (Continued below)

Giants reach third down.

Giants 11th drive: Punt

Manning takes a deep shot down the sideline and it's incomplete. Good coverage on the play.

Eagles 11th drive: Punt

Eagles can't get much going and have to punt.

Giants 12th drive: Punt

Barwin sacks Manning for the third time on the night. Philadelphia's sixth sack. G-men punt.

Eagles 12th drive: Punt

Trey Burton takes a carry with Sproles out. Eagles are driving and running clock before having to punt.

Giants 13th drive: Fumble

Larry Donnell fumbles after making a reception down field. Cornerback Bradley Fletcher forces the ball out and linebacker Casey Matthews recovers. That's the 19th straight game where Philadelphia has forced a turnover.

Eagles 14th drive: Punt

Eagles run some clock past the two-minute warning and then punt.

Giants 14th drive: Clock expires

Giants backup quarterback Ryan Nassib in for Manning. Brandon Graham forces a fumble, but Nassib recovers. Make that seven sacks for the Philadelphia defense. Brandon Bair sacks Nassib to end the game. Eight sacks on the night. Game over.

The Eagles are now 5-1 on the 2014 NFL season. Big win.
