The Philadelphia Eagles have announced their game-day inactive list in preparation for their NFL Week 6 game against the New York Giants.
As expected due to a report from earlier in the day, starting inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans is ACTIVE and will play. Ryans was ruled questionable on the team's final injury report heading into this match-up. Ryans is dealing with a groin injury that kept him out of practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ryans returned to practice on Thursday but was a limited participant. It remains to be seen how effective Ryans will be given that he's seemingly playing at less than 100%.
Fellow starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks is inactive. Kendricks has not returned to action since suffering a calf injury in Week 2. Kendricks may be able to return following the team's Week 7 bye. Filling in for Kendricks will likely be the trio of Casey Matthews, Emmanuel Acho, and first round draft pick Marcus Smith II.
Starting center Jason Kelce is also inactive. Kelce, who suffered a sports hernia injury in Week 3, is targeting to return in Week 10. Backup David Molk will start at center in place of Kelce. Veteran offensive lineman Wade Smith will serve as Molk's backup.
Philadelphia will be without two special teams contributors. Depth wide receiver Brad Smith had surgery on a central core muscle on Thursday and won't be back for a few weeks. Josh Huff and Jeff Maehl will replace Smith in his absence. Tight end James Casey will serve as the team's emergency quarterback. Depth running back and kick returner Chris Polk is also out. Polk will likely be replaced by Huff as the kick returner. Rookie tight end Trey Burton will fill in for Polk as the team's third string running back.
Rookie cornerback Jaylen Watkins is active for just the second time this season.
