Zach Ertz: 'I want to be one of the best tight ends ever to play' - JimmyK, Philly.com
You would never know it, but compared to the best veteran tight ends around the league, Zach Ertz had a great rookie season. In the NFL, there are some positions in which it is common for rookies to have immediate success. Other positions take far longer to master.
Eagles must decide: Re-sign Cooper and Maclin? - Zach Berman, Inquirer
The Eagles have roughly $18 million in cap space after the 2013 cap carryover and money allocated to 2014 draft picks. That number could increase after restructuring deals of veterans with hefty 2014 salaries. In order to sign Maclin and Cooper, the Eagles must determine what to do about Jason Avant. Avant will be 31 next season and is due $2.2 million with a $1 million roster bonus. He is a reliable pass-catcher who is respected in the locker room, but he would be an expensive No. 4 receiver if both Maclin and Cooper return.
Fun With Numbers - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
I was checking out some stats tonight while doing some research and stumbled across something interesting. Let’s compare 2006 Donovan McNabb vs 2013 Nick Foles. Each guy started 10 games, although Foles played in a few others. They had almost the exact same number of passing attempts.
Why They Believe In Chip - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
Going into next season, new faces will be added, but many of the core players from the 2013 squad will remain the same. Keeping that in mind, I posed one simple question to the players earlier this week as they cleaned out their lockers: What did Kelly do in Year One that makes you believe he can lead this franchise to greater heights going forward? Below are their responses.
Roseman: We shouldn’t have let Dawkins walk - Geoff Mosher, CSN Philly
Howie Roseman essentially apologized Wednesday morning for one of the Eagles’ most egregious front office blunders in franchise history. Appearing on 94.1 WIP, Roseman said the franchise never should have let iconic safety Brian Dawkins leave in free agency after the 2008 season.
Five teams that could sign Michael Vick if he leaves the Eagles - Eliot Shorr-Parks, NJ.com
His teammates know that means Vick is a goner in Philadelphia. While Vick cleaned out his locker, players went up to Vick, asking him to sign different items and taking their picture with him. Still beloved in the locker room, Vick's teammates know he is going to sign with a team that gives him a chance to start. Where could that team be? Here are five teams that might take a chance on Vick.
