Only one day into the Senior Bowl and the Eagles have already taken a player off their board. Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson is no longer of interest to the Eagles front office, according to our pal Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com. The news comes after several draftniks (including SB Nation's Dan Kadar) took to Twitter to praise Henderson's effort and physical prowess on Monday.
Henderson was a five-star college recruit out of Coral Glabes, Florida who chose Miami over USC, after the latter was hit with a two-year bowl ban. While he started as a true freshman, injuries and off-the-field issues have been a major concern with Henderson. He missed several games due to suspensions and back problems while at Miami. Henderson was suspended twice by Miami for violating team rules and it is possible that the Eagles interviewed him about the punishments and did not like his answers.
Henderson is also a bit of an odd athlete. At just under 6-foot-7 and weighing 331 pounds, Henderson is a very good athlete for his size with strong lateral speed. However, his body control can be a serious issue. He tends not to bend well and gets off-balance when he launches to block defenders. He also has several moments where he ends up blocking air and falls on his face due his lack of body control.
Another thing going against Henderson with the Eagles is that they may deem he is not suitable for the zone-blocking scheme. He is an extremely passive blocker when it comes protecting the pass and is clumsy when it comes to the screen game because he has a tough time in space. Henderson is likely to be a full-time right tackle in the NFL due to his run blocking prowess.
