Super Bowl 2014: Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks in the Battle of the Best

The top seed from each conference will face off in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Super Bowl XLVIII is set as the Denver Broncos knocked off the Patriots and the Seahawks beat the 49ers on Sunday. Denver returns to the Super Bowl stage for the first time since the 1998 playoffs, when the Broncos beat the Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. It was their second straight SB win in a row with John Elway at the helm. Seattle haven't been to the SB since the 2005 playoffs, where they lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL. The Seahawks have never won a SB before in franchise history.

The Seahawks won't have the advantage of the 12th man at the neutral site of East Rutherford, NJ where the Super Bowl will be held, but they will bring the league's top rated defense with them. Second year quarterback Russell Wilson, reportedly coveted by the Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft, will be tasked with matching the offensive production of a high-powered Denver offense led by one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

Speaking of, Peyton Manning is now only one win after from earning his second career Super Bowl ring. Peyton previously won a ring with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007. A second ring for Peyton would tie the amount of championships his brother, Eli Manning, has won.  Funny (or painfully) enough, Eli Manning won his second ring at Peyton's field (Lucas Oil Stadium). Now, Peyton has the chance to win his second ring at the stadium where his younger brother plays: MetLife stadium.

It's only been talked about since it was announced a few years back, but it's worth noting that the 2014 Super Bowl will be held outdoors in the Northeast winter cold. While it's too early for an exact forecast of the weather on February 2nd, it's worth noting that the average high for that time is 39°F and the low is 29°F. Could we see some snow?

I'm expecting a good game, as everyone should be. It's the Best of the NFC vs. the Best of the AFC. The best quarterback against the league's best defense.

So, Eagles fans, who are you pulling for?
