The first of the two Championship Round games this Sunday features the top two seeds from the AFC: the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos. The biggest storyline to watch is obvious: Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning. These two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks have a history which tends favor Patriots QB Tom Brady. Brady is 10-4 in the 14 times these two have faced off.
The Patriots and Broncos met earlier in the season in what may have been the "Game of the Year". It took place in New England on November 24th, 2013. That game started off great for the Broncos as they jumped out to a 24-0 lead. At one point, the Patriots only had a .2% chance of winning. But then the script was flipped and the Pats got on a roll as they taged a comeback that forced the game into overtime. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski drilled a game winning field goal to end the game in OT with a score of 34-31. The Patriots won't have the benefit of home field advantage this time as the game is being played in Denver.
So, Eagles fans, who are you rooting for in this one? The Broncos are the only team left in the 2014 NFL playoffs that the Eagles played in 2013. Denver smoked the Eagles in their meeting, 52-20. Unless Peyton Manning and his "OMAHA" bother you, which is admittedly fair, I don't see why Eagles fans would want to root against the Broncos. On the other hand, the Patriots... well, how could you ever root for them? Chip Kelly may be friends with Bill Belichick, but I imagine Eagles fans aren't ready to buddy up with Pats fans anytime soon.
So with all of that said, I leave you with two questions:
1) Who are you rooting for?
2) Who is the better QB: Brady or Manning?
