Chip Kelly named Professional Coach of the Year by Maxwell Football Club

Exactly one year ago today, the Philadelphia Eagles hired Chip Kelly to be their head coach. Today, Chip Kelly has been named as the 25th recipient of Greasy Neale Professional Coach of the Year award. The award is handed out by the Maxwell Football Club.

The honor is well deserved. Chip Kelly engineered the turnaround of an uninspiring 2012 Eagles roster that went 4-12 into a 10-6 team that won the NFC East Division Championship and made it to the 2014 NFL playoffs. Under Kelly, the Eagles broke a number of records and a number of players experienced career years. The Eagles finished with an explosive, top ranked offense that put up the most 20+ yard plays in NFL history (99).

And to think it was only his first year in the NFL. A number of people were skeptical if Kelly would even work out in the NFL due to his lack of experience at the highest level. As it turns out, "College Boy" belongs in the NFL after all.
