Report: Dolphins Hire Eagles QB Coach Bill Lazor as Offensive Coordinator

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Eagles quarterback coach Bill Lazor isn't headed to the Detroit Lions after all, but he's still leaving Philadelphia. According to a report from ESPN Insider Chris Mortenson, Lazor is headed to Miami. Local Philly beat reporters have confirmed this report. Lazor will work under Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin and have the chance to coach young quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Lazor interviewed for the Miami job last week, so the connection is no surprise. It's not an ideal loss for the Eagles. Lazor contributed to the development of Nick Foles, and Lazor's absence will mean three different quarterback coaches in three different years for Foles. However, the man primarily responsible for Foles' success, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, is still very much here to stay.

The Eagles were likely prepared for Lazor to move on. It was no surprise to see him garnering interest around the league.

It remains to be seen who will replace Lazor as the Eagles new QB coach. Eagles offensive quality control coach Press Taylor's name has come up in speculation. Taylor is young (26), however, and the Eagles could look for an external hire.
