We all know the Eagles have not had a good safety since the one and only Brian Dawkins, but it is not so easy to fill those shoes. He is one of the best players at his position in the history of the game. Alas, until we have a safety worthy of starting in the NFL, we will long for another Dawkins. Here are the top safeties in this year's class. This includes both FS and SS, since the Eagles need one or the other, or both.
There is a lot more tape to be watched, but here are the preliminary rankings.
Deone Bucannon is my top ranked safety for the Eagles, big, fast, strong, and he has tremendous instincts. If you have not seen him play, I advise watching some of his tape, I bet you all will be fans of him very soon. Clinton-Dix is right behind him, and Lamarcus Joyner would be an incredible addition to this defense. This safety class does not boast generational stars, but some very good football players. Imagine two of these players in Eagles green.
