2014 NFL Pro Bowl: Jason Peters Opts Out

Texans LT Duane Brown will take the place of Jason Peters in this year's Pro Bowl.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

The Philadelphia Eagles will only be sending one player to Hawaii this year. Two Eagles, RB LeSean McCoy and Jason Peters, were originally named to the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl roster, but Peters has declined the opportunity to go. In his place will be first alternate Texans LT Duane Brown. McCoy will still be in Hawaii, championship belt in hand, and ready to represent the Eagles.

Peters was named to his sixth Pro Bowl this year. He played considerably well and was a big reason the Eagles ran the ball so effectively. Making matters more impressive, he did all this coming off a major achilles injury in 2012 that caused him to miss the entire season. Pro Football Focus ranked Peters as the fifth best OT in the league in 2013.

Unless you're a really big Pro Bowl fan (well, uh...), this really isn't a big deal. Peters has his reasons for not wanting to go. It's as simple as that.

(No word on the status of other Eagles alternates: Nick Foles first alternate, Evan Mathis second alternate, DeSean Jackson second alternate.)
