Report: Dolphins, Buccaneers Request Permission to Interview Eagles VP of Player Personnel Tom Gamble

ESPN NFL insider Adam Caplan reports that both the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have asked the Eagles for permission to interview Vice President of Player Personnel Tom Gamble for their open General Manager jobs. As Reuben Frank points out, the Eagles can't block Gamble from interviewing since he's being offered a promotion. All the Buccaneers and Dolphins have to do in this case is notify the Eagles that they will be interviewing Gamble.

A report about the Dolphins' interest in Gamble was made apparent earlier this week. The Buccaneers interest is newly heard of, but not unexpected. Gamble was held in high regards around the league prior to joining the Eagles last year. You can read his impressive career bio here. His reputation with the Eagles certainly didn't deteriorate considering his contributions to a successful 2013 offseason. Gamble is part of a strong Eagles front office that includes General Manager Howie Roseman.

It remains to be seen if Gamble will leave the Eagles organization. If the right offer is there, it's hard to see him decline, but he does have local ties to the area. Part of the reason Gamble, a native of Haddonfield, NJ, returned to Philadelphia last year was to be closer to his family.

Losing Gamble to a different organization would certainly be a disappointing loss for the Eagles, but it's hard to deny Gamble is deserving of a promotion.
