2013 NFL postseason and awards predictions - Jimmy Kempski, Philly.com
All of these picks are probably wrong.
The Specialness of the Special Teamer - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
Frankly, after the poor STs play of the post-Harbaugh era, I’m just fine with Kelly and Dave Fipp doing whatever it takes to solve that unit. When you have a talented, but flawed roster like the Eagles do, STs can win/lose you a few games a year. Damaris Johnson’s fumble in the Arizona game last year completely changed the momentum of that game. The PR score in the first Dallas game broke that contest wide open. Fipp won’t let that happen this year. Players don’t want to deal with the wrath of his stare.
There's no other Eagle like Connor Barwin - Bob Ford, Inquirer
Assuming the offense can score points as expected in Chip Kelly's frenetic manner, then it will be up to the defense to actually come through and not give the games back to the other teams. For that to happen, the newly installed 3-4 defense has to function properly, particularly in the base defense, when the outside linebackers have to be able to cover pass receivers.
Billy Davis Not Exactly Brimming With Confidence - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7
"I am very anxious for the Redskins to show us who we are and where we are," Davis said. "I don’t know what’s coming. The truth will be at the end of that game we’ll know defensively how far along we are." You’ll notice no hint of confidence or bravado in Davis’ response. He seems more than willing to be completely honest about where his defense is and the challenges that await in the next four months.
2013 Philadelphia Eagles: Predictions for All 16 Games - Andrew Kulp, The700Level
Spoiler alert: Eagles make the playoffs!
How will Eagles' offense combat fake injuries? - John Gonzalez, CSN Philly
The Eagles want to play fast. They don’t want to be on their heels. That’s what Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said on Thursday. It wasn’t exactly news. The Eagles have been upfront about being uptempo. But the reason Shurmur mentioned those things – the specific context – was interesting.
Women's World: Promise Of A Season - Brandlyn Campbell, PhiladelphiaEagles.com
We’re almost there. On Monday, a new era of Eagles football will get underway at FedEx Field against the Washington Redskins. The promise of a new season brings with it the excitement of a fresh start. Last season’s upsetting 4 -12 season doesn’t matter now— only what happens from this point forward does. It makes the excitement of a new football season a pure expression of hope and joy.
Bill Barnwell on the NFL teams that will be worse in 2013 - Grantland
In Part 2 of our team-by-team preview, we look at the teams that will likely take a step back from their 2012 performances
The NFL's Rising Teams - Bill Barnwell, Grantland
Best-Case Scenario: The Eagles are Redskins North. Vick is a borderline MVP candidate, the Eagles average six yards per carry on the ground, and the defense is passable enough for Philly to win 11 games.
Broncos Ravens: Manning throws 7 TDs in 49-27 rout - Mile High Report, Kyle Montgomery
He's still good.
