Eagles work out OT Roger Gaines and LB Vic So'oto

According to a report from Aaron Wilson, the Eagles have worked out a couple of free agents: OT Roger Gaines and LB Vic So'oto.

Gaines (6'6", 334lbs) was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent after the 2013 NFL draft. He was recently cut by the Ravens as they trimmed their roster down to 53.

Here's a scouting report on him from CBS Sports:

STRENGTHS: Naturally massive man with good arm length. Quicker and more athletic than he looks, despite some stiffness in his upper body. Physically dominates opponents at the FCS level, showing impressive upper body strength to latch on and control the defender. Has improved his technique over the past two seasons and didn't allow a sack in 2012... Some upside worthy of developing here, though his future would be at right tackle, not left as he's played for the Tigers.

WEAKNESSES: Has been able to get away with his size and strength versus OVC competition and remains a work in progress, technically-speaking. Too often stands up at the snap, losing the leverage battle. Has a tendency to lunge toward defenders as part of his punch, making him vulerable to arm-over swim moves and counters from quicker pass rushers. Possesses adequate straight-line speed but doesn't show the balance to adjust to moving targets when blocking downfield. Was rarely asked to play out of the three-point stance and doesn't appear to be particularly flexible. Obvious level of competition questions and will have to explain why he didn't participate in the Texas vs. Nation game despite accepting an invitation.

LB Vic So'oto was recently released by the Washington Redskins. So'oto was an undrafted free agent in 2011 and spent some time with the Packers (two times) and Raiders before ending up in Washington. The Skins signed him off the Packers practice squad in 2012. The 6'3", 263lb So'oto played as an OLB with Washington.

The Eagles are already carrying 10 OL on the 53 man roster (and 2 on the PS in converted DL Isaac Remington and rookie OT Michael Bamiro). Depth at OLB is really thin, with only 3 OLBs on the roster (Barwin, Cole, Graham).
