Emmanuel Acho could still be a member of the Eagles. The former sixth-round pick of the Browns cleared waivers on Tuesday afternoon and is now free to sign with any team to be on an active roster or on a practice squad. Acho was waived on Monday in order for the Eagles to acquire fellow inside linebacker Najee Goode.
The release of Acho drew ire from several fans across the internet, who viewed him as a lock for opening day roster. While the fanbase argued over the merits of keeping Acho over Casey Matthews, the lack of interest on the waiver wire shows that the league isn't as enamored with the second-year linebacker as casual spectators.
Acho captured the attention of the local media and fans due to his performance during the preseason. During the exhibition season, Acho led the Eagles in tackles in three of four games. His best performance came last week in the preseason finale against the New York Jets. Acho collected 11 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble at New Meadowlands Stadium.
Since he made the initial 53-man roster, there may be interest from the Eagles in placing Acho on the practice squad. However. a deal between Acho and the Eagles may take a while according to Rueben Frank of CSN Philly:
I'm told Acho won't go on practice squad this week but maybe later in year. Need extra OL and DB legs at practice because of some injuries.

A delay on Acho joining the practice squad makes sense as the Eagles already have five inside linebackers. The offensive line only features nine players, so adding a body to that unit in practice would be ideal. Still, you can never have too many talented players.
