Eagles waive CB Brandon Hughes with injury settlement

Farewell, Mr. Hughes.

Patrick Smith

According to every Eagles beat reporter in the world, the team has announced they waived veteran cornerback Brandon Hughes with an injury settlement.

Hughes was placed on short-term Injured Reserve last week when the Eagles signed CB Roc Carmichael off of the Houston Texans' practice squad. Short-term IR shouldn't be confused with "Injured Reserve - Designated for Return".

He was also released by the Eagles earlier this season in order to avoid guaranteeing his vested veteran salary. The team brought him back after the week 1 games were over.

Hughes was originally acquired off of the Giants practice squad in late 2010. Since then, he has been active in 31 games and started 1 (2011). Hughes contributed as a depth CB and on special teams.

The Eagles currently have 6 CB's on the roster: Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin, Shaun Prater, Jordan Poyer, Roc Carmichael.
