Eagles injury report: Bradley Fletcher did not practice, Brandon Hughes returns

Three Eagles were listed on Wednesday's injury report.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Only three Eagles were listed on Wednesday's injury report.

Did Not Practice: CB Bradley Fletcher (concussion)

Limited Participation: OT Dennis Kelly (back)

Full Participation: CB Brandon Hughes (hand)

Losing Fletcher is not a good sign. Concussions are serious injuries and require time. In the interest of player safety, players with concussions are required to pass a league mandated multiple phase concussion test before they can return to action.

Fletcher being out also means the Eagles lack of cornerback depth is exposed. If Fletcher misses time, slot CB Brandon Boykin will take his place on the outside opposite of Cary Williams. Williams played well on Monday night. and Boykin's performance was inspiring. But beyond that, it's not pretty. Jordan Poyer is a rookie and he looked the part against the Redskins. Recently acquired CB Shaun Prater was not even active for the Redskins game.

Fortunately for the Eagles, recently re-signed veteran Brandon Hughes was a full-go in practice. Hughes will provide more depth at cornerback. He's probably a more reliable option than Poyer.

In more positive news, Dennis Kelly seems to be progressing after missing most of training camp with a back injury. Kelly will reinforce the Eagles offensive line depth when healthy. According to Reuben Frank, DKelly's return could be as soon as next week. He expects to be ready for Week 4 against the Broncos.
