Saturday Preseason Thread: NFC rival New York Giants take on inner-state rival Pittsburgh Steelers

USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles are resting following their 31-22 loss to the New England Patriots last night. While the Eagles take their day off, the team's NFC East rival will be in action against an inner-state foe. The Giants will take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network. This game will be a good chance for the Eagles and their fans to get a first look at a New York team with a lot of young talent.

The Giants feature a new starting running back, a new slot receiver, a new tight end and several new additions on defense. This team is not what it was two years ago and even has a drastically different look than last season. Eli Manning will likely only get about two to three series, but what may interest fans is the performance of rookie quarterback Ryan Nassib, who eventually could take over for Manning. Other guys to look out for are running back David Wilson, wide receiver Reuben Randle and tight end Brandon Myers.

The Eagles don't play the Steelers this season, but it will be interesting to see how former big name college prospects like LaVeon Bell, Jarvis Jones and Landry Jones fare in their first NFL night out. Bruce Gradkowski will likely be receiving the heavy quarterback snaps tonight and with the Steelers missing Mike Wallace, it will be cool to see someone emerge in this place.

Both teams have former Eagles if you enjoy keeping track of their careers. Former Eagles' linebacker and confusing fan-favorite Brian Rolle (47) is now an inside linebacker in Dick LeBeau's defense. Sadly, long-time Eagle Mike Patterson and fellow former Philadelphia defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins will be rocking the middle of the defensive line for the Giants. Also, for all you Mike Golic fans, his son (Mike Golic Jr.) is an undrafted offensive tackle for the Steelers. He wears number 67.

Enjoy your Saturday football fix.
