Giants LB Dan Connor arrested in Philadelphia

Protip: Leave your switchblade at home when you plan on taking a flight

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Former Cowboy and current New York Giants LB Dan Connor was arrested at Philadelphia Int'l Airport over the weekend after trying to board a flight with a switchblade in his luggage.

The Penn State product who went to HS in Wallingford was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He was later released without bail. Federal authorities released the following statement.

"On Saturday, July 6, 2013 at approximately 9 a.m., inside of Philadelphia International Airport, a TSA officer observed a switchblade in the luggage of a male who was attempting to enter a terminal at the airport. The knife was first observed on an X-ray machine monitor by a TSA officer. After making the observation, Philadelphia Police were notified and the male was taken into custody. The male has been identified as Dan Connor, a 27-year-old male from Charlotte, N.C. Connor is charged with possession of an offensive weapon."

Whether Connor is dumb enough to not realize you can't take a knife onto a plane or he's just careless and forgot, it at least serves as a reminder to the rest of us to be sure to not bring weapons on a flight. You'd think that would be obvious, but it was reported last week that a record number of people have shown up to flights this year thinking they could bring a loaded gun on board.
