Patriots offer free exchange on Aaron Hernandez jerseys

USA TODAY Sports

Not much good has or will come of the Aaron Hernandez situation, but I have to give the Patriots credit for making a very classy and fan friendly move.

If you bought a #81 Hernandez jersey from the team's shop, they will allow you to exchange it for any other player's jersey for free.

"We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don't want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore," said New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James. "We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player's jersey will be well received by parents."

It's not something the team had to do, but it's a very sensible and positive gesture to fans. You just can't wear a Hernandez jersey anymore. It's not like a guy who left for free agency or a guy like TO who just acted like a jerk. He allegedly executed someone. It's just awful and it would be pretty sad for a parent to have to take the jersey away from a kid they just gave it to.

So good for you Patriots.
