Philadelphia Eagles sign Zach Ertz, 4 other rookies

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With the team's first rookie minicamp less than a day away, the Eagles agreed to terms with 5 of their 2013 draft picks. Players who inked deals today include Zach Ertz, Earl Wolff, Joe Kruger, Jordan Poyer and David King.

The rookie wage scale that came as part of the new CBA has made the rookie signing process fairly elementary. I would expect the Eagles to have all of their picks signed up in pretty short order. Unsigned draft picks will still be present at this weekend's camp.

It will be especially important for guys like Zach Ertz & Jordan Poyer to get some good work in this weekend, because they will be barred from returning to the team until they graduate at the end of this month. That's due to a somewhat controversial NFL rule aimed at making sure player graduate. However, in the case of some of these guys, they don't even have finals left and are done their coursework. It really ends up putting some of these rookies with later graduation dates at a disadvantage as they miss a lot of practice reps & film study over the next month.

Two guys who won't have to worry about that are Matt Barkley and Bennie Logan, who both graduated early.
