Pat Summerall Dead at 82

Ronald Martinez

It was announced earlier today that legendary broadcaster Pat Summerall passed away at the age of 82.

If you're my age, Pat Summerall's voice was the voice of the NFL growing up. He and John Madden are still the broadcast duo I associate with so many of the great memories I had watching football as a kid. Madden & Summerall were always the #1 team, so they always got the best games. As a result, I always remember it feeling like an event when those guys were together.

Not only was Summerall one of the most iconic play by play men of all time, he also played the game. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 1952 draft and was a placekicker in the NFL for nearly a decade.

For the younger among us who never really got to hear Summerall call a game, I found a pretty great example of his work on Youtube.
