Multiple sources are reporting that the Eagles have traded RB Dion Lewis to the Cleveland Browns for LB Emmanuel Acho.
We reported last week that Lewis had been put on the trading block by the Eagles and evidently it did not take long for Howie Roseman to unload the 3rd year RB to his former boss, Joe Banner. Lewis had 13 carries for 69 yards and a TD last season. Over 2 years with the Eagles he's carried the ball 36 times.
Emmanuel Acho is a 6-1, 240 LB that the Browns took in the 6th round last year out of Texas. He did not play last season after being put on IR with a leg injury. His brother Sam is a LB for the Arizona Cardinals.
Acho started 26 games for the Longhorns and in his senior season was consensus first team all Big-12. Out of school, National Football Post saw him as an inside LB in a 3-4.
Impression: Isn't a dynamic straight-line athlete, but plays faster because of instincts. Is a good tackler, can shed blocks and plays stronger than his frame would indicate. Has the versatility to play a number of spots in a 4-3 scheme or get some looks inside in a 34. Looks like a potential starter in the NFL either way.
Here was NFL.com's overview.
Acho is a strong physical talent out of Texas who has been a productive force inside for the Longhorns the past two years. There are certain hitches in his athletic ability and running motion that inhibit him on the field, but he shows up consistently and knows how to tackle and play well in the box. He has shown the ability to be a special teamer at the next level and seems to have the temperamant to contribute there. He is a fifth- or sixth-round talent based on his ability to contribute early.
