Chip Kelly changes things up in Eagles locker room

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Chip Kelly has shaken things up in the Eagles locker room. Literally.

Les Bowen was at a charity dinner thrown by Todd Herremans and got to speak with Jason Kelce about the goings at Eagles headquarters now that Chip Kelly is in charge. One of the changes he has made is in the setup of the locker room. Previously, guys were grouped by position but now Kelce says Chip has guys totally mixed up. Young guys are put next to older guys regardless of position.

It's a small thing, but definitely indicative of the fact that there's a new way of doing things at the NovaCare. It also tells me that Kelly is going to try to do some good old fashioned team building. Sometimes people scoff at that stuff, but in football it matters. It's the ultimate team and system game. Guys have to be 100% bought in or nothing works. Case in point? Last season!

This is just a first little glimpse into what will likely be huge changes in the way everything is done in the offseason and between Sundays for the Eagles. This is what made the Eagles really go after Chip. It wasn't simply about his playcalling or on-field smarts... It was because of all the possible candidates, he was arguably the only one that was going to fundamentally change the way everything is done in the organization. The practices, the installs, the workouts, the treatment of injuries, the training...

Mixing guys up in the locker room is just the start.
