The Eagles have schedule yet another visit with a top prospect in the 2013 draft with BYU DE Ezekiel Ansah due to be at the NovaCare complex in the near future. This news comes on the heels of earlier reports that the Eagles will have Sharrif Floyd & Eric Fisher in as well.
According to the USA Today. The Eagles actually sent their defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro to check out Ansah, which would seemingly indicate that they see him as a defensive end rather than an outside linebacker. Ansah has done both, but has spent more time with his hand on the ground rushing from both the DE and DT position. He already has 3-4 experience playing 5 tech, 3 tech and even some nose tackle on pass downs.
At 6-5, 271 with 35 inch arms, Ansah is certainly built stout enough to play DE in a 3-4. He's an interesting character that has only played football since his sophomore year in college. He initially came to BYU from Ghana to run track. Over the past 2 seasons, he's really bulked himself and transformed his body into that of a football player. What you've got now is a guy who's raw athleticism and upside will be extremely attractive to teams. After he dominated the Senior Bowl, teams have become more convinced that his potential is really starting to be realized.
However, despite the surprising advances he's made in technique he's still considered pretty raw and will likely be a bit of a project early in his career. With his tools, it could very well be a project worth taking on.
