Of all the expert mock drafts I've posted, none seem to provoke more reaction than those by former NFL scout and current Montreal Allouttes director of scouting Russ Lande. His mocks are usually so different from the norm, fans just go nuts. The names are in a different place than we're used to!
Now, I doubt things will shake out like Lande predicts here, but we know that one of these big names he has dropping is likely to do so on draft day. It happens ever year. Ditto for all the QBs he's got going high. We see that pretty often too. And if it happened this year, the mediocre teams picking the teens would be doing cartwheels with all the talent that gets pushed down to them as a result.
The real shockers in his latest mock are Eric Fisher going out of the top 10. So implausible does this seem, you'd think it was more likely some kind of utopian fantasy dream by someone in the offensive line challenged Chargers front office.
Dee Milliner dropping to 13 would be surprising, Dion Jordan falling all the way to the Steelers at 17 would not be expected. How about Jarvis Jones going to the Pats at the end of the first round?
One move that would not be a huge shock would be the Eagles taking Star Lotulelei. They have worked him out, he would be a reasonably good scheme fit and talent wise he does seem to have the good to warrant a top 5 pick. There's questions about his consistency and effort level at times, but the talent and raw ability is there.
