It's a bad year to be a free agent CB, but a good year to be in the market for one. The Vikings released veteran CB Antoine Winfield today adding to the already swelled ranks of free agent corners.
Winfield, who will be 36 this summer, was still an excellent slot corner for the Vikings last season and rated as PFF's top tackling corner in the NFL. I'm not sure at his age he's any kind of solution for the Eagles, but he does add yet another quality corner to the market and that's only going to drive down price and demand for everyone else.
As for other veteran names on the market that the Eagles could have interest in?
Sean Smith, Derek Cox, Aqib Talib, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Brent Grimes, DeAngelo Hall, Chris Houston, Greg Toler, Cary Williams...
Plus, as we know, Darrelle Revis is available on the trade market.
And who knows? By the end of the day Nnamdi Asomugha could be on that list. Some have expressed surprise that he's still on the team, but given that the Eagles are on the hook for $4 million no matter what, they really have no reason to cut him loose earlier than they have to.
