USA TODAY Sports

The USA Today is reporting that Eagles DE Trent Cole had surgery on his hand and could be limited in OTAs this spring. He is, however, expected to be ready for training camp in the summer.

The source says that it was not considered a major operation and that it was done to correct an issue that Cole has been dealing with for the past year.

Cole is coming off his worst season where he registered just 3 sacks. It was the first time he was under double digits in 4 years. The 30 year DE sign a contract extension prior to last season.

There are certainly a lot of questions surrounding Cole and how not only he can bounce back from the disaster of last season but also how he can fit into the Eagles new scheme, which will likely rely heavily on 3-4 concepts. Missing some spring OTAs shouldn't be a real issue for a veteran like Cole and frankly, a lot of his time will likely have to be spent in the film & meeting rooms learning the new defensive concepts.
