Philadelphia Eagles sign DE/LB Chris McCoy

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles made a small move today signing DE/LB Chris McCoy from the CFL's Calgary Stampeders. He registered 20 tackles a 5 sacks last season in Canada and was originally a 7th round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2010. He also spent some time with the Steelers, Seahawks and Texans.

All of those teams either run a pure 3-4 or in the case of the Seahawks, a hybrid version. Point is, while this is a small move, it is yet another piece of dirt in the growing mountain of evidence that the Eagles will indeed move to a 3-4 next season.

At 6-3, 261 McCoy is well built to be a 3-4 rush OLB, which is where he's been primarily used in his career. He signed a 3 year deal with the Eagles, but it's not guarnateed so he will obviously be competing for a roster spot as the summer goes on.
