We all know about Oregon's Dion Jordan and Georgia's Jarvis Jones, but with medical, weight and unclear position questions on the surface, it is good to have options. The Combine was "wowed" today by two men that will likely be in the SAM linebacker conversation over the next two months. Southern Missouri's Jamie Collins and Connecticut's Sio Moore showed great speed and athleticism during today's drills but all it did was backup their tape. These guys are gamers.
Let's take a look at their numbers:
Name | School | Height | Weight | 40 | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump |
Jamie Collins | So. Missouri | 6'3" | 250 | 4.64 | 41 1/2" | 11'7" |
Sio Moore | UConn | 6'1" | 245 | 4.65 | 38" | 10'7" |
As you can see they have speed to run with tight ends and running backs, as well as the ability to jump out of the building. If you are a quarterback, you are going to have throw the ball pretty high to escape their reach. Also, according to Stats X Info, Collins only had a 3% missed tackle rate (that is extremely impressive). Collins also beat A.J. Hawk's linebacker Combine record by a whopping six inches. Moore, meanwhile, did 29 reps during the bench press, so he clearly has the strength to take on blocks.
Both Moore and Collins are likely to go on Day 2 and have a lot of talent. Here is a look at both:
As you can see on the tape, these are two guys who can tackle, cover, rush and have the ability to make plays. While Dion Jordan is a great prospect, these guys are a bit more seasoned and would be cheaper selections with a lot of talent. These are just two of the options to keep in mind as the NFL Draft approaches.
Did you see anyone else that caught your eye? Are you willing to weight for the 2nd Day to grab a SAM linebacker? What are your thoughts on Moore and Collins?
