The Eagles have been pretty vague about a lot of their plans this offseason. However, sometimes that vagueness seems to speak volumes.
Case in point, Nnamdi Asomugha.
When Chip Kelly was asked to give his assessment of the veteran corner, he didn't exactly offer a ringing endorsement.
"I think Nnamdi has a skill set (pause) that can play football."
When you contrast that with how he talked about other players, it becomes even more clear what he thinks about Asomguha. He had praise for guys like DeMeco Ryans and Nick Foles.... But Nnamdi? Well, you heard him.
Howie Roseman took the podium shortly after Chip and when he was asked about Nnamdi's future, he offered no compliments or positivity either.
"We have to go through all those decisions of every player on our roster. We want to make sure whenever we're signing players, whenever we're talking about players financials that it fits into our overall cap structure and what we're trying to do."
Hearing these guys, I couldn't help of think of Elaine's reaction in that Seinfeld episode where Jerry asked her to marry him...
Short of throwing his stuff out on the lawn of the NovaCare complex, I'm not sure how much more obvious the Eagles can make it that they have no intention of paying Nnamdi Asomugha the $15 million he'd be owed next season. Before today, I thought the most likely scenario was that they'd try to restructure him but now? I think they'll just eat the $4 million cap hit and cut him.
