2013 NFL Mock Draft: A new name in the top 5

Check out our 2013 Eagles mock draft central for more opinions on who could be the #4 pick in April.

Harry How

It's Monday morning and that means a fresh new mock draft from our pals at Mocking the Draft. This one should be extra fun for Eagles fans because we've actually got a new name for once! No Luke Joeckel or Dee Milliner for the 100th time... MTD has the Eagles taking Dion Jordan from Oregon.

Just about everyone has slotted an offensive tackle to the Eagles. We're as guilty of it as anyone. But what if the training staff is adamant that Jason Peters will be back healthy? If he is, does a team take a right tackle in the top five? It's unlikely. Instead, look for Chip Kelly to make do with the pieces he has on offense and look for a difference maker on defense. Kelly is fully aware of Jordan's athleticism, and knows how to properly use him in the team's new 3-4.

Check out MTD's full scouting report on Jordan.

I'm not sure that Dion Jordan would be the guy, but their reasoning here is something a lot of BGNers have been saying in the comments. If indeed Jason Peters is healthy, using the #4 pick on a blue chip OT may not be the smartest use of resources. If you assume Peters and Herremans are your tackles, then you can work on other areas of the team.

There is offensive line talent on this team, but whether it will be on the field is real question. Jason Peters is a great player, but he's coming off a twice torn Achilles. Todd Herremans suffered ligament damage and dislocated bone in his foot. Jason Kelce tore his ACL and MCL.

These are all very good players and if healthy there probably isn't a need for a high pick to spent on a lineman. But admittedly, when you look at the list of injuries... it's a gamble to assume they'll all be back to 100% this summer.
