New NFL League Year Scheduled to Start on March 11, 2014

Despite the draft being moved to May, free agency will keep front offices and fans busy in March and April.

The Eagles and 31 other teams will begin their respective offseasons in March. The new league year for 2014 will begin on March 11th, according to Pro Football Talk. This means that free agents will be able to sign contracts at 4 p.m. ET on that date.

Like last season, teams will be able to call the representatives of pending free agents three days prior to the start of the new league year. At 4 p.m. ET on March 8th, teams can start making their calls, but no one can sign anything until the 11th. This means that the Eagles and all the other teams can see how the market shapes up and offer contracts without the ability to close. The same can be said about each teams' own players that they want to re-sign.

While the playoffs are still alive for the Eagles, there are several teams that will be looking forward to March a bit sooner.
