49ers to cut former Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha

Hey, remember when Nnamdi Asomugha was considered a top five defensive player and the best cornerback in the NFL? Yeah, it appears those days are long gone. Much like his fake bride played by Nick Kroll, Asomugha is getting Nnamdi'd by the 49ers. San Francisco will cut Asomugha on Monday, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Asomugha lasted just three games with the 49ers after spending two years with the Eagles. The move comes just after the 49ers' bye week and days after Asomugha's wife, Kerry Washington, hosted Saturday Night Live. Asomugha simply just has nothing left in the tank, as he is repeatedly beaten in coverage and refuses to tackle with consistency. It is an unfortunate end for a player that once seemed destined for the Hall of Fame under the gaze of a "shutdown cornerback."

This release actually may be what is best for Asomugha. He has made a ton of money in the league and his wife recently unveiled that she is pregnant. He seems like a swell fella, who has played his hand in charity and in acting, so maybe this will jump-start his second career. Also, this allows for more opportunities for car dining.
