They have 67 plays of 20+ yards this season (chart below), which is 12 more than any other team in the NFL, and 25 more than what the rest of the league averages, at 41.6. In fact, the Eagles have a play that goes for 20+ yards once every 10.7 plays. By comparison, the rest of the NFL averages a 20+ yard play every 17.3 snaps.

Foles still only has 11 starts under his belt, which amounts to less than a season’s worth. He’s playing lights-out football right now, yet he’s little more than a month removed from a putrid performance against Dallas. In short, Foles hasn’t quite cemented his status as a franchise quarterback, or in many eyes, even a very good player.

Offensively, it all starts with their pass game and veteran quarterback Carson Palmer. Palmer has his faults at this point in his career, as he often takes sacks he shouldn’t and is known to throw a couple balls to the other team. He is the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, but he could’ve had three or four interceptions in the win over the Colts on Sunday. However, Palmer can really sling it if he is given time in the pocket. The offensive line has begun to settle in and provide their quarterback more time of late.

And this Thanksgiving, his story is a terrific reminder that while some play football for money and fame, others play the game for a different reason.
