Earlier in the day, it was reported that Redskins cornerback E.J. Biggers was fined for an illegal hit on Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Now, it's an Eagles player who's being fined.
According to a report, Fletcher Cox is being fined $7,875 for a late hit on Robert Griffin III. The penalty occurred on the first play of the game. It was an obvious call. It wasn't a major hit, more of a shove than anything, but RG3 was clearly already out of bounds and the ball had been thrown away. With the emphasis that's placed on protecting quarterbacks, the officials are going to throw a flag every time on this type of play.
Here's the play in GIF form:
Just a bad decision by the Eagles' second year defensive lineman. Cox has been having a great season, but this wasn't his best moment.
