Eagles' future rides on the outcome of Redskins game, or does it? - Rich Hofmann, Daily News
THIS IS WHERE the Eagles' season pivots. If they expect to have a good chance of winning the NFC East and making the playoffs, this is the game that will tell them. Based upon current valuations, a win on Sunday over the Washington Redskins is the price to dream. Can you concoct a scenario in which the Eagles lose to Washington and still make it? Sure. In the Land of the Loss, a k a the NFC East, an eight-win team could still be king. A three-car pileup at the finish line is not out of the question, with the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins and/or Giants in the mix.
Know Your Enemy: Washington - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
The Skins are 31st in the league in points allowed. They have played one less game than the Eagles, but allowed 43 more points. The Skins just broke a 4-game streak of allowing non-offensive TDs last week. They still lost that game, 34-27 to the Vikings. Christian Ponder, who has struggled mightily this year, was 17 for 21 in that game. It is very kind of the Skins to help Ponder try to keep his job as the Vikings starting QB. Most teams are too selfish to do that.
Three-And-Out: Eagles-Redskins Predictions - Birds 24/7
Zach Ertz: The rookie played 34 snaps last week, but what’s worth noting is that on 23 of those, he was a run blocker, according to PFF. That was an aspect of Ertz’s game that needed work earlier in the season, and last week it looked like he was making real progress. As a receiver, he was not targeted against Green Bay. But I doubt that will be the case this week. The Redskins are 28th in the league at covering opposing tight ends, per Football Outsiders. The Eagles, meanwhile, still rank 31st in red-zone efficiency, scoring touchdowns 41.94 percent of the time. Look for Ertz to get free, make an impact in the passing game and maybe even notch his second touchdown.
He may not be fast, but Foles is deceptively crafty - Reuben Frank, CSN Philly
Nick Foles wants to make sure he gets credit for every bit of speed he has. So when he’s asked about the 5.2 he ran in the 40-yard dash at the 2012 NFL scouting combine, he’s quick to correct the questioner. "I didn’t run a 5.2 at the combine," he says with mock incredulity. "It was a 5.1!"
NFL Week 11 Picks - FanSpeak
A week after throwing seven touchdown passes, Nick Foles threw three more all for at least 30 yards in the Eagles' 27-13 win at Green Bay. Only one other visiting player has thrown three TD passes of 30 yards or longer in a game at Lambeau Field: Randall Cunningham in a 37-24 Vikings win in 1998. Foles is not the only Eagles offensive player stepping up. LeSean McCoy rushed for 155 yards in the Eagles' win. It was McCoy's third game of the season with at least 150 rushing yards, a team record. Philly is 5-1 on the road this season but 0-4 at home and have amazingly lost a franchise record 10 straight home games. The last team Philly beat a team at home was the NY Giants in week 4 last season. The Redskins are not the same 3-6 team that won seven straight to win the NFC Least last season, look for the Eagles to snap the home drought and win a high scoring exciting affair. Eagles by six but take a serious look at the over in this one.
