It may not have been quite "The Drive" but it was pretty sweet all the same, and a clinic in line blocking. The twelve plays (excluding the kneel-downs):
One:
Eagles in a double TE set. GB has eight in the box. Ertz at the bottom of the screen, about three yards wide of the right hash.
Inside zone left. Burnett takes two steps up field before crashing. Ertz is caving in the GB left side.
Johnson, who started out doubling Daniels with Herremans is coming off the double team and heading for Brad Jones. Usually, when the RB lines up on one side of the QB, the play is aimed at the other side of center., i.e., if Shady's on the right, the play is going left. Not this time; Shady runs straight up the field.
Ertz has driven the LB eight yards. Burnett makes a nice tackle, or this play could have gone big. Gain of 5. Basic stuff: GB put eight in the box and the extra guy made the tackle but the Eagles still got five. Foles had a close judgment to make, keep or hand off? The ruling principle is: when in doubt, give it to the RB.
Two:
Again, double TE, GB with eight in the box.
Inside zone right. Herremans and Kelce double teaming the NT.
Herremans is coming off the double team and going to the next level. So is Mathis. Nice running lane.
Same play, different angle.
Herremans can't get inside leverage on the LB, but that doesn't mean he won't try to crush him, and Shady gets 7.
Three:
Again, double TE, GB with eight in the box.
Barbre and Celek double-teaming Nick Perry.
Barbre comes off the double-team and takes the safety. And Shady gets 7.
Four:
Sweep. Ertz has a good angle on Matthews.
Unfortunately, it's not Casey Matthews.
Matthews can't get a grip because of that club and Shady gets around him...
...but can't keep his balance. Gain of 1.
Five:
The screen. Perfectly set up. Two blockers in front, only one defender in sight.
The blockers are expecting Casey to go outside and if he did he might still be running. But he's wrong-footed here and turns inside...
...beats one man, gets help from Herremans, and gets the first down. Gain of 8.
Six:
Skipping the preliminaries and getting right to the meat. Ertz and Johnson have caved in the GB left side. On this drive Shady has been taking it straight up the field, but this time...
Got him dead to rights.
Well, no.
Lost my contact here, somewhere.
And Shady gets 14.
Seven
Barbre now at TE.
Outside zone run. Barbre can't hook his man.
So he just throws him down.
And Brown gets 8. Nice job staying in-bounds.
Eight
Barbre again at TE.
Raji and Daniels, tired of being blocked or maybe just plain tired, grab hold. The back judge is doing a shimmy, though, and doesn't notice. Happens a lot.
Brad Jones comes clean...
...but Brown sidesteps him...
...shrugs off Nick Perry...
...and gets the first down. Great run. Gain of 4.
Nine:
This time Barbre and Johnson are on the left side of the O line. Palmer is frozen by the read-option...
And Shady gets 9.
Ten:
Next play they're both on the other side. They're running a no-huddle, remember. This kind of thing isn't as easy as it might appear.
Foles reads Neal, who squats.
And Shady gets 9.
Eleven:
Raji grabs Johnson...again...
And Jones makes the stop.
Twelve:
How perfect a climax is this? Foles reads Neal, who crashes...
...and Nick pulls it and gets the first down. The rest of it was kneel-downs.
15 plays. 70 yards. 9 minutes, 32 seconds.
Winning football.
