Pro Football Focus is a site that grades NFL player performances. Let's take a look at what they had to say about the performances in Philadelphia's 27-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
PFF offers explanation on their grading system on their website. Read more about that here.
OFFENSE
Best
Evan Mathis +4.9
Brent Celek +2.6
LeSean McCoy +2.5
Allen Barbre +2.2
Riley Cooper +1.9
Jason Peters +1.9 (10 snaps)
Nick Foles +1.9
Lane Johnson +1.6
DeSean Jackson +0.9
Worst
Jason Kelce -0.6
Zach Ertz -0.5
Analysis:
Evan Mathis was his usual self. Brent Celek didn't produce much as a receiver but blocked really well. LeSean McCoy rushed for 155 yards on 25 carries (6.2). 71 of those yards came after initial contact. Allen Barbe played well in relief of Jason Peters, who also played well in very limited snaps. Riley Cooper had another eye-popping performance with 3 catches for 102 yards and 2 TD. Todd Herremans and Lane Johnson both graded positively in run blocking, with Johnson also a positive in pass blocking.
Nick Foles only received a +0.5 pass grade. The remaining +1.3 of his total +1.9 grade was from his rushing performance: 38 yards on 8 attempts. Foles' passing grade was marked down on plays where he was pressured or blitzed.
Not many bad performances on offense. Jason Kelce was marked down for his pass blocking but graded well in the run game. Zach Ertz had a curious day. He played 54% of the team's offensive snaps but didn't even seen a single ball thrown his way. PFF notes 23 of Ertz's 33 snaps were where the tight end was run blocking.
DEFENSE
Best
Roc Carmichael +2.5
DeMeco Ryans +1.3
Brandon Graham +1.2
Cedric Thornton +0.7
Worst
Fletcher Cox -3.1
Cary Williams -1.5
Patrick Chung -1.4
Analysis: The Eagles defender with the best grade was none other than Roc Carmichael. He was starting in place of injured Bradley Fletcher. Carmichael was targeted 8 times but only allowed 5 catches for 59 yards. He also had a "pass defensed". DeMeco Ryans contributed with 9 tackles, 4 assisted, 4 stops, along with an interception. Brandon Graham only played 17 snaps but generated 2 QB hurries in that time. Cedric Thornton was his usually run-defending self and even have a batted pass.
Fletcher Cox received the worst grade on defense. Cox only provided 1 hurry in 40 pass rush snaps. The Packers certainly weren't scared of Eagles cornerback Cary Williams. He was targeted 13 times and allowed 9 receptions for 113 yards. Patrick Chung allowed a Green Bay touchdown after falling down on a play.
