Eagles vs. Packers Final Score: Philadelphia back to .500 in win over Green Bay, 27-13

Game day. Nick Foles versus Seneca Wallace in Green Bay. Let's get it started!

FIRST QUARTER

Packers win the toss and opt to kick. Eagles offense up first. Driving. Philadelphia is moving at a fast pace again, lots of no huddle. Packers injury timeout. Hm, wonder if the Eagles will be seeing a lot of this today? A Riley Cooper drop stalls the drive. Eagles punt.

Eagles defense up. Cornerback Roc Carmichael is starting on the outside with Bradley Fletcher out due to injury. Speaking of injuries, Mychal Kendricks goes down. Walks off on his own power, knee is being checked out. Najee Goode in. Defense starts to come alive. Big hit from DeMeco Ryans on Lacy, then a great open field tackle on a screen from Nate Allen. The Eagles get a stop and GB attempts a field goal. Mason Crosby kick from 53 is... no good!

Injury update: Kendricks went in for X-rays on his right knee, return is questionable. Now Jason Peters is down and slow to get up. Allen Barbre in. Peters headed to the locker room. Head injury, return questionable.

Nick Foles throws a ball deep and it's under-thrown, but it doesn't matter. DeSean Jackson stays focused and under control, makes the catch after the ball bounces off the Packers defenders. Bad throw, but great catch. Foles owes Jackson for that bailout. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.  7-0, Eagles.

Whoa, Packers QB Scott Tolzien in now for Seneca Wallace. Apparently Wallace has a groin injury and questionable to return. The Packers recently promoted Tolzien from practice squad earlier in the week. Packers punt.

Eagles take over. Jason Peters is back. And he's back down. Trainers help him off the field. Foles sacked on the play. Eagles have to punt. Donnie Jones pins the Packers deep in their own territory.

Now Earl Wolff looks hurt. What's going on here? Patrick Chung in for Wolff.

SECOND QUARTER

Packers ball. Their offense has become handing off to rookie running back Eddie Lacy on almost every play.

Injury update: Jason Peters, Earl Wolff, Mychal Kendricks all ruled out for the remainder of the game. Rough.

Big play for the Packers... Jarrett Boykin makes a 36 yard catch down field from Tolzien. On further review, it looks like it was incomplete, but the Eagles didn't challenge the play. Bad decision. Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is the one in the booth responsible for making those calls. Packers drive into scoring position. Tolzien throws into the endzone... picked off! Clutch play from Brandon Boykin. 76 yard return on the play.

Eagles on offense. LeSean McCoy gets his facemask grabbed, but no call. Bad job by the refs. Obvious play. Alex Henery from 39 yards out... no good. Welp. What a wasted opportunity.

Packers drive this time. Tolzien is looking OK for a third stringer. Eagles force a fourth down, which leads to a 42 yard FG attempt from Crosby. It's no good. Crosby is 0-2 on the day.

Eagles back on offense. Solid catches from DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper help move the chains, along with a roughing the passer penalty on Packers LB Clay Matthews. Philadelphia is in the red zone, but nothing going. The Eagles are forced to a field goal. It looked like Jason Avant was being held from behind on an incompletion thrown his way. Not the best day by the referees here. 10-0, Eagles.

Packers back on offense, and Tolzien is carving up the Eagles defense because, of course he is. Green Bay moves into the end zone and it looked like he made a TD throw to James Jones, but it was ruled incomplete. Packers settle for the FG instead. 10-3, Eagles.

Ugly first half.

THIRD QUARTER

Packers receive to start the second half. Nothing going. Punt... and a weird play ensues. A Packers player touches the ball on the return, trying to the punt deep in the Eagles territory. The ball is laying on the field, so Colt Anderson tries to pick it up. Anderson loses control of the ball, and the Packers recover in their own end zone. It's not a touchdown, though. The Eagles have the option for a free play, so it's not a bad decision by Anderson. Colt knows the rules!

A big run by McCoy moves the chains. Then, Foles unleashes a pass to Riley Cooper deep. Great catch by Cooper, looked like a bad pass from Foles. It's starting to seem like Foles leads the league in under-thrown touchdown passes. The Eagles will take it. Cooper looked shaken up after the play. 17-3, Eagles.

Packers take over, but not for long. Tolzien's pass over the middle of the field is tipped and DeMeco Ryans makes a great diving interception. Great play, and a huge game for Ryans. Credit Cary Williams with the tipped pass.

The Eagles offense doesn't do much with the turnover. A 41 yard FG from Henery widens the Philadelphia lead. 20-3, Eagles.

Packers ball. A Brandon Boykin pass interference call gives Green Bay 30 yards. Tolzien throws his first NFL touchdown shortly after that. Patrick Chung, in coverage, fell down. The Packers trim the lead. 20-10, Eagles.

Eagles driving. Throw over the middle looked like it was picked off, by Avant grabs it. A Nick Vick run gives the Eagles 16 yards and sets up a... you guessed it... Foles to Cooper touchdown pass! Cooper was wide open on the play. 27-10, Eagles.

FOURTH QUARTER

Packers drive, moving the ball. Vinny Curry SACK. Huge hit. Curry hugs the ref after the play, which is excellent. The Packers face a long 2nd down, but get some of those yards back on a screen play. The Eagles get a stop, and Crosby kicks a field goal. 27-13, Eagles.

Eagles on offensive, and... uh-oh. Foles gets sacked on third down and it looks like he fumbled, but it's not originally clear. The ruling on the field is Foles was down by contact. Green Bay challenges, and it's successful. Packer ball at the spot of the fumble. Foles' first turnover of the season.

The Packers take over in good position. The Eagles hold them to fourth down. Tolzien throws... and it looks like a touchdown, but the refs rule it as an incompletion because it looked like the ball hit the ground. The play is challenged, but to no avail this time. Green Bay only has one timeout left and no more challenges. Turnover on downs.

Eagles take over and look to milk the clock. Lots of Shady running. A 3rd and 7 is converted on a TE screen to James Casey. Yes, that James Casey! Bryce Brown getting some touches and yards here too. The clock keeps on running. And running. And running. And running. Victory formation. The time expires, and the Eagles win this one.

Final: 27-13

FINAL THOUGHTS

5-5. Back to .500.

Not the prettiest performance, but it was a win the Eagles needed. The theme of this game was for the Eagles to take advantage, and in the end that's exactly what they did. Although the Packers were without their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and even their backup QB Seneca Wallace, they are still looked like a respectable team. The Eagles were also dealing with injuries, having lost three starters during the game.

Nick Foles finished with 228 yards and 3 TD and a 149.3 on 12/18 throwing. That means Foles has 16 touchdown passes to 0 interceptions all year. Foles' numbers versus Green Bay don't tell the whole story, as some of those touchdown passes weren't the best throws, but it was still a solid outing. LeSean McCoy pitched in with 155 yards on the ground on 25 carries (6.2 avg) and Riley Cooper led the team in receiving with 3 catches for 102 yards and 2 TD. It's amazing how Cooper has come alive in recent weeks.

The defense struggled at times but also ultimately did its' job by holding the Packers offense to 13 points. DeMeco Ryans made some big plays, aided with the big interception from Brandon Boykin.

As for the refs... well, let's just say it wasn't their best game.

Eyes now turn to the Cowboys-Saints game tonight in New Orleans. A Cowboys loss would mean both Philly and Dallas are 5-5.
