Eagles injury update: S Patrick Chung and CB Brandon Boykin limited in practice

The Eagles' secondary is having more than just problems in the coverage department. The health of starting safety and nickelback Brandon Boykin will be in the spotlight as the Eagles prepare to face the Giants on Sunday. Chung is still recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out of Week 4's loss to the Broncos, while Boykin suffered a shoulder injury of his own against Denver.

Both Boykin and Chung were limited in practice on Wednesday and rookies Jordan Poyer and Earl Wolff filled in for the bruised defensive backs. Wolff made his first career start, in place of Chung, against Denver and finished the game with seven total tackles. Poyer has played sparingly on defense since his up-and-down debut in Week 1 against the Redskins. He has been active for three games this season and produce three tackles, all of which came against Washington.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly believe Boykin's injury is minor and that he will eventually be a full participant in practice this week, according to CSN Philly's Geoff Mosher. Boykin will likely be matched up against the Giants' leading receiver Victor Cruz on Sunday, so it is imperative that he heals quickly. If Chung is unable to play, Wolff will continue to start over Kurt Coleman and Colt Anderson.
