Earlier this week Ron Jaworski endorsed Jon Gruden for the Eagles vacant head coaching job and now another bird's legend has jumped on the Gru-dog train. Former Eagles coach Dick Vermeil says he'd pick Gruden if it was up to him and he thinks Gruden should get back to coaching.
"My choice would be Jon Gruden," Vermeil told 94 WIP's Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow Tuesday afternoon. "... I just think he's a helluva of football coach, and I don't want him to make the mistake I made, to wait too long to go back. I just think he's a helluva football coach and a great personality."
Vermeil went 15 years off the sidelines after he left Philadelphia. When he did return, he won a Super Bowl with the Rams. Gruden last coached in 2008 and has since been working in the media, most notably in the booth for Monday Night Football.
Jaworski says he's interested in getting back into coaching, but so far there's been no reports of interest on the part of the Eagles or any other team.
