2013 NFL Mock Draft: Could Luke Joeckel drop to the Eagles?

Check out our 2013 Eagles mock draft central for more opinions on who could be the #4 pick in April.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Our pal Dan Kadar from Mocking the Draft dropped his latest mock this AM and has a familiar name going to the Eagles at #4, Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel.

The hiring of Chip Kelly was a big splash for the Eagles. Could they look to splash again in the draft? On the surface, an offensive tackle doesn't make a lot of waves. (Sorry for the water-based rhetoric)

However, drafting arguably the best player in the draft with the fourth overall pick should be viewed as an excellent move. Having his franchise left tackle set for years would allow Kelly to tinker with the skill positions going forward.

For all the reasons Dan said, this would be a homerun pick for the Eagles. Every successful NFL franchise has a cornerstone LT so adding Joeckel would be a coup. Even if Jason Peters is back to full health next year, Joeckel could play on the right or even move inside for a year or so like Shawn Andrews did. Or maybe Peters moves around. Either way, he represents a massive upgrade to the offense up front.
