Sugar Bowl open thread

Kevin C. Cox

The big college football bowls games are well underway and with notable draft eligible players taking part, I thought it would be worth hosting some open threads the next couple nights. We got some good participation is what ended up as a disappointing Pinstripe Bowl matchup between QB prospects Geno Smith of WVU and Ryan Nassib of Syracuse.

Though, we did see possible future Eagles coach Doug Marrone get a bowl win that day.

Tonight is the Sugar Bowl pitting the Florida Gators against the Louisville Cardinals. Our pals over at Mocking the Draft put together a handy guide to the game for NFL draft watchers.

Check out the article, but for Louisville the guys to watch are CB Adrian Bushnell & C Mario Benavides. QB Teddy Bridgewater is one to watch for next year.

On the Florida offense keep an eye on RB Mike Gillislee and TE Jordan Reed.

The Florida defense is where the real NFL talent is in this matchup. Pay particular attention to DT Shariff Floyd, LBs Lerentee McCray & Jonathan Bostic as well as safety Matt Elam.
