Brian Westbrook will retire as an Eagle today at 11:30. Yesterday, we re-lived the second Miracle at the Meadowlands, today we take a look at another famous Westbrook moment.
With the Eagles up 10-6 with just over 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Brian Westbrook took a handoff up the middle and as he was known to do, broke the ankles of at least 3 Cowboys defenders leaving nothing but daylight in front of him. Rather than score though, Westbrook knelt on the one yard line. Doing so allowed the Eagles to take a couple of knees and end the game.
Had he scored, they would have been up 17-6 with a little over 2 minutes left. Probably would have been pretty safe and he would have added another TD to his resume. But it wouldn't have ended the game. The kneel down ended the game. His cutting ability, acceleration, unselfishness, and headiness were all on display here.
