The Eagles needed four more moves to get to the roster limit of 75 by this afternoon. To do so, they only needed to make one cut. WR Jamel Hamler was waived.
The rest of the moves were injury related.
Jason Peters was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list and Mike Patterson was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. Both will eligible to start practicing with the team between weeks 6 & 9. Patterson probably has a chance to play at some point, but Peters will almost certainly be placed on IR when he comes of the list.
G Mike Gibson was placed on IR with a minor injury (hip flexor). Previous cuts were WR Elvis Akpla, S Wade Bonner, DE Xavier Brown, WR Brian Hernandez, WR McKay Jacobson, WR Tiger Jones, G Alfred McCullough, DB Tom Nelson, CB Kevin Thomas, OT Thomas Welch, CB Cliff Harris.
The Eagles will now have until Friday at 9pm to get down to 53 players for the regular season roster.
"We made a few cuts and it's all part of the process here and we've still got to make a few more," said Andy Reid. "We appreciate the effort that the players have given us and the loyalty and the things they've done. Really there is going to be tougher ones and even more down the road here. The guys worked hard and I am hoping they catch on and have another opportunity with another football team."
