The Eagles announced this morning that they've signed former Dallas Cowboys punter and Aussie Mat McBriar to a one year deal. He'll compete with 2nd year man Chas Henry for the punter's job.

McBriar made 2 pro bowls and was twice named an All Pro during his 7 year stint in Dallas. He was widely considered one of the best punters in the league over that span compiling the highest average in a season since 1963 and leading the league in both average and net average in 2010.

He landed on IR last year with a case of "drop foot," which is a nerve issue that was affecting his left foot. It was likely caused by a cyst he had removed on his left knee earlier that year. JimmyK noted that he was hitting 70+ yarders in his workout with the Eagles, so it would appear that he's healthy. We'll obviously see about that in camp and preseason.

He was reportedly choosing between the Eagles and Cowboys.
