Eagles plan to give FA Shockey a physical
The Eagles, intent on improving their tight end depth, plan to give free agent Jeremy Shockey a physical within the next week.

Backup running backs will push McCoy
You'd think Pro Bowler LeSean McCoy has it easy now that he signed a lucrative five-year contract extension this offseason, but his backups won't make it too easy for him.

Fletcher Cox got some reps at DE today. He absolutely dominated a gray trashcan that was trying to block him. In fairness, the trashcan had a great motor, but Cox outweighed it by 275 lbs. and he was at least 3 feet taller.

The Eagles had plenty of problem defensively last season from scheme, to discipline and technique under coordinator Juan Castillo. But watching this club play out the schedule, they did improve at the end of the year. Move to this offseason, the addition of LB DeMeco Ryans (an immediate upgrade at the LB position) and more edge speed via the draft. If the Eagles can play more consistently on defense, this is one of the top teams in the entire league (and my early NFC East favorite).
